What makes Starglide different?
Lubricants are applied on the mucous membranes and are absorbed directly into the body very quickly. Mucous membranes are the moist layer of semi-permeable tissue lining the mouth, vagina and anus. Because they do not have the protective layer (stratum corneum) found on the surface of the outer skin, mucous membranes can be damaged, irritated and penetrated by synthetic chemicals much more easily. Rectal and vaginal absorption is, generally speaking, many times greater than oral absorption. Therefore, the use of natural, chemical free, high quality ingredients is very important, particularly with regard to the increasing sensitivity to allergies and the growing concerns of the use of synthetic preservatives such as parabens.

What is a 100% Natural lubricant?
Natural products are made from plants and minerals, rather than from synthetic compounds or petrochemicals. Natural ingredients, organic or not, ensures that petrochemical and synthetic compounds are not accumulating in your body and the environment. Pure and natural formulas are an especially important choice for those with sensitive skin conditions, as they are less likely to irritate or cause reactions.
Don't just take our word for it, do your own research!
We highly recommend that you research the ingredients that go into making the lubricants you currently use and those you consider buying. There are a number of well known ingredients to avoid but these same ingredients are prevalent in popular, well known lubricants widely available today. Ingredients such as Parabens, PEG, Hormones, Glycols – ingredients which could be harmful to our bodies and really have no place in lubricants which are absorbed directly into the body.

Other ingredients and additives such as artificial colours, flavours and perfumes are known irritants and have a high likelihood of causing skin irritations and allergies. If you are vegetarian or vegan and you should check ingredients such as Glycerine and consider whether that is animal or plant derived?
Starglide meets the BDIH standard
The formulations of Starglide lubricants meet the strict standards of the BDIH guideline in Germany, a standards body that certifies a product to be 100% natural, (Association of German Industries and Trading Firms for pharmaceuticals, health care products, food supplements and personal hygiene products). However, only cosmetic products are permitted to feature the BDIH label. As lubricants are classified as medical products, a certification is therefore not possible. Starglide lubricants are tagged with the CE-mark which is awarded by the TÜV (Technical Monitoring Association in Germany).
The standards of the BDIH control amongst others:
Vegetable raw materials
Ingredients have to be from a plant and should be obtained from organic growth or wild harvest wherever possible.
Animal protection
No animal testing is permitted, neither when producing, developing or testing the products.
No radioactive radiation
It is forbidden to disinfect organic raw materials and completed cosmetic products using radioactive radiation.
Intentional rejection of:
• Synthetic dyes
• Synthetic fragrances
• Ethoxylated raw-materials
• Silicones
• Petroleum-based products
